TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – September 13, 2019 — Every election year, millions of Americans are not able to vote because they missed the registration deadline, failed to update their registration, or simply did not know how to register. National Voter Registration Day was started to close the gap and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to vote. In support of that mission, Traverse Area Association of REALTORS® (TAAR) and FUSE, a young professionals’ program of the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce, will host a voter registration drive at the State Theatre on Tuesday, September 24 from noon-6 pm.
TAAR and FUSE volunteers along with the City Clerk for the City of Traverse City will be available to assist residents with:
- Registering to vote or updating their voter registration with their current address
- Filling out an absentee voter ballot application to vote absentee in the November 5, 2019 City of Traverse City election
- Pick up information on candidates running for Mayor and Traverse City Commission courtesy oforg, provided by the League of Women Voters Grand Traverse Area (LWV-GTA), a trusted source of objective and nonpartisan election information
In addition, residents will be able to pick up information on the LWV-GTA’s Traverse City Mayoral and City Commissioner Candidate Forum to be held on Wednesday, September 25th, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Grand Traverse Governmental Center – Commission Meeting Room (400 Boardman Avenue, Traverse City).
