TRAVERSE CITY, MICH., May 2, 2013— Northwestern Bank announced today that their “It’s time for your free lunch!” promotion for opening a new checking account will be expanded to include new loans. The promotion will begin on Monday, May 6 and continue through Saturday, June 15.
Known for their exceptional customer service, Northwestern wants to attract new customers who are frustrated by their current banking experience by encouraging them to take out a loan or switch their checking account to Northwestern. New loan and checking customers will receive a “Lunch Bucks” certificate redeemable at one of dozens of participating restaurants in northwest Michigan.
“There’s a perception that banks aren’t lending, but Northwestern is,” said Nicole Edenburn, manager of the bank’s Traverse City Garfield office. “And, most other banks don’t offer free checking any longer, but we do.”
Current Northwestern customers can take out a new loan, access their home equity line of credit or refer friends and family and also receive “Lunch Bucks” certificates. More than 100 restaurants in the 14 counties that Northwestern’s 28 offices serve will be taking part in the promotion. A list of participating restaurants can be found on the bank’s Web site, at nwbank.com/FreeLunch.
