Amy’s story is not unusual at Ferris. “Our school has always been focused on creating new opportunities,” said Debbra Curtiss, Director of the university’s Traverse City location. With more than a dozen of their most popular programs offered in Traverse City, including programs in business, technology, and criminal justice, Ferris is able to provide a convenient, affordable path to a degree.
Ferris is also extending opportunities to Traverse City’s business community. The university’s Employer Tuition Reimbursement program gives employers a way to invest in their employees by helping them with the cost of their degree. “We’re known for being a hands-on school,” said Curtiss, “and our working students are learning skills they can use on the job the very next day.”
Developing the skills of their best people is an effective way for businesses to retain talent and build from within. Participating in the ETR program may also have tax benefits for some organizations.
In addition to the programs available in Traverse City and the university’s 23 other locations across Michigan, Ferris offers a number of programs online. This includes their nationally ranked Master of Business Administration program and several of the school’s well-regarded health care programs. It’s a convenient way for students to earn their degree wherever and whenever they have time.
“We are making a real impact in the lives of our students by connecting them with educational opportunities that are otherwise out of reach,” Curtiss said. “And we believe we are having a positive impact on the communities where our graduates live and work. We’re proud of our presence in Traverse City.”
Ferris – Traverse City has certainly had a significant impact on Amy Reed. Four years after leaving the Marines, she has earned her bachelor’s degree and was recently accepted to the Master’s of Social Work program at Ferris. She plans to use her education to improve the lives of others and make a difference in her community. And she plans to do it in Traverse City.
