Traverse City, MI – TBA Credit Union has award Classroom Improvement Grants to three local schools. Traverse City High School was granted $542 toward new math textbooks, Eastern Elementary school received $1,000 to kick-start a student-run television studio, and TCAPS Montessori at Glen Loomis was awarded $1,000 toward the purchase of classroom iPads.
“TBA Credit Union’s local investment in our community is a big win for our schools,” said Steve Cousins, superintendent of Traverse City Area Public Schools. “The three grant projects selected this year will provide additional opportunities for our students to be engaged, inspired and challenged to reach their full potential.”
As school districts continue to experience budget cuts, educators search for new and creative means to fund projects and programs in jeopardy of being eliminated. Committed to students and the educators dedicated to their success, TBA Credit Union is proud to offer this funding opportunity. Applicants are selected for funding based on how many students benefit from the request, how the request relates to classroom instruction and how funding will impact the future of students. Educators from Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau counties can apply.
“TBACU allocates funds each year to support the Classroom Improvement Grant Program and has donated $5,000 to local schools in 2013 alone,” said Karen Browne, President and CEO of TBA Credit Union. “We are pleased to offer this program which is another extension of our commitment to education and the community.”
A $150 million (assets) credit union, TBACU provides financial services to members in Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau counties. In addition to three branch offices located in Traverse City, service is available at 1,800 shared-branching offices and 30,000 surcharge-free ATMs made accessible across the nation through an affiliates program.
