Oblinger is a Traverse City native who attended Northwestern Michigan College for two years before attending Davenport College through NMC’s University Center here in Traverse City. She graduated from Davenport University in 2000 with a degree in marketing and communications and worked in the marketing field before joining the Chamber a dozen years ago. She is the organization’s first female executive director in the Chamber’s 100-year history.
“I’m honored to receive this award from Davenport University, and especially proud that it chose to recognize someone who attended the university through one of its satellite facilities,” Oblinger said. “I’ve been blessed to have an opportunity to receive a world-class education from one of Michigan’s great learning institutions and be able to do so in my hometown. I hope I can be an inspiration to others in reaching their educational goals through a unique community asset like the University Center.”
Oblinger and her husband, Chris, live in Traverse City with their daughter Grace.
