Candice has broad management and administrative experience operating state-funded programs as well as early childhood and family life credentials. Before coming to Traverse City, she was the Michigan Department of Human Services (DHS) Program Services Manager in Alpena. With 15 years of experience leading multi-faceted, home – based child and family programs in high risk communities, Candice brings the skills and dedication needed to implement the Great Start to Quality rating system, promote continuous quality improvement in childcare, support and strengthen programs that serve children in at-risk families, and work with communities to build great childcare options for all families.
The Chamber is one of eight partner members of NMECC which holds the contract for the Northwest Resource Center. The other members are: Traverse Bay Area ISD, Char-Em ISD, Wexford/Missaukee ISD, Manistee ISD, Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency, Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services, and Leelanau Children’s Center. Funding for Great Start to Quality comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families through the Child Care Development Fund set-aside to states. Great Start to Quality in Michigan is part of a state-wide quality rating improvement and referral system whose purpose is to ensure the highest quality childcare is available to Michigan families.
