Continuing this year is the availability for Bridge Card holders to be able to use their cards to buy fresh produce and plants at the market. Another program, Double Up Bucks, is an additional benefit because it doubles the buying power for the Bridge Card holder. An example—if someone’s Bridge Card is charged $10.00 they receive $10 in tokens from Grow Benzie Farmers Market and $10 in tokens from the Double Up Food Bucks with which to shop at the market. There is a $20 matching limit on the Double Up Food Bucks per week, but no limit on Bridge Card Purchases.
This week the market will be featuring several lettuces and plants along with other produce. By the end of June, lots of tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and herbs will be available. New vendors are welcome and asked to contact Deb Query, 231 352 4487 for information on joining the market.
