Elk Rapids, MI — One of Artprize 2013’s top winners is coming to the Twisted Fish Gallery in Elk Rapids on Saturday, October 26. Anni Crouter, an exhibiting artist at Twisted Fish, took home second place honors in the world’s largest open art competition in Grand Rapids earlier this month, winning $75,000. A Meet the Artist Reception is planned at the Gallery, just south of Elk Rapids on US 31 from 6 to 8 pm. All are welcome.
Crouter’s Artprize entry, Polor Expressed, was a series of three life-size acrylics of polar bears. Twisted Fish Gallery owner, Bob Streit, says numerous Crouter works will be on display and for sale at the reception, including glycées (prints) of her winning bears. Other pieces by the artist can be viewed at www.twistedfishart.com.
“I thought I was a winner when I got in the Top Ten,” said Crouter, following the public voting of 1,524 works of art. “I am completely thrilled and looking forward to coming to Twisted Fish with some new paintings.” Over 49,000 voted for their favorite artwork during the 16-day Artprize competition.
Born in Chicago, Crouter is married to a veterinarian and lives in Flint. She attended Mott Community College, majoring in Business with a minor in art, and has been painting and drawing since she was a child. Her art has been featured in exhibits and galleries around the country.
Twisted Fish Gallery is located at 10443 S. Bayshore Drive, Elk Rapids. Call 231 264-0123 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for information.
