YPs Launch L.I.F.E. Mentoring Program

The Traverse City Young Professionals (TCYPs), a program of the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce, will partner with the Northwest Michigan chapter of Junior Achievement USA to bring a professional student mentoring series to the Traverse City region this fall. Registration is now open for both mentors and mentees.

The mentoring series consists of nine (9) months, September through May, sessions. The mentoring series, TCYP L.I.F.E. (Lessons In Future Endeavors) Mentoring Program, will include of a variation of hands-on activities and skill building opportunities that are essential to professional growth from an individuals’ high school years through to their career, including time management, career paths, job interviewing, and public speaking. The series will conclude with a business networking reception where students will be able to put their newly learned and improved skills to the test.

Mentees do not need to be affiliated with Junior Achievement USA. The only requirement is that mentees be high school-aged students (9th-12th grade). Throughout the length of the series, the students will have the opportunity to network and mingle with local young professionals. Students will be able to refine their skills, make connections with local professionals, learn more about different career paths/opportunities, and learn what it takes to be a successful young professional in Traverse City. Students who are interested in registering for the series can go to: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/life-mentoring-program-tickets-27004187251 to sign-up and obtain more information about the program. Mentee registration is ongoing and there is no cost to attend.
