Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Laura Oblinger, has announced that, effective May 31, she is resigning to pursue personal goals, including her desire to fully engage in her role as a mother and wife.
“My decision to change my course is solely personal. The last several months have been a time of deep reflection for me. I have given great consideration to and placed great weight on my personal mission, vision and values. As a result, I have triggered an opportunity to take a pause in my professional life, leave my post with the Chamber, and focus on my family. This is a bittersweet move but the necessary, right move,” according to Oblinger.
TraverseCONNECT CEO Doug Luciani is responsible for the replacement of this position and will be working closely with Chamber Board Chair, Mike Meindertsma. Luciani stated, “Laura has been in a staff leadership role since being hired as the Vice President of the Chamber in April, 2003. She is among the most talented, dedicated, and effective professionals in our industry. She has been instrumental in the Chamber’s success and will be sorely missed.”
Decisions about filling the Executive Director position will be made in collaboration with the Chamber Board of Directors. No decision has been made regarding when or how the position will be filled; however, the Chamber intends to name an internal candidate as its Interim Executive Director until such time as the job may be posted.
